Logan Circle

Overview

A direct result of gentrification, Logan Circle is quickly revitalizing to become the "new Dupont" of DC. Once considered part of Shaw neighborhood, Logan Circle has grown into its own neighborhood with new businesses, residential construction, and trendy restaurants. While its name comes from the actual traffic circle, most of the shopping, restaurants, art galleries, and entertainment venues reside on nearby 14th St. The surrounding area and the Circle itself are mostly residential with new apartments, condos, and renovated row houses.

Although its western border with Dupont Circle is debated, the generally accepted neighborhood of Logan Circle is bordered by U St. to the North, Massachusetts Ave. to the South, 11th St. to the East, and 16th St. to the West.

Residents going to school at The George Washington University, Georgetown University, John Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies, Howard University, or Stryer College; working in one of the many nearby embassies and consulate offices; or working Downtown/Chinatown area often consider residing in the Logan Circle neighborhood.

Housing

With its central location among the many universities, popular neighborhoods, and nearby metro stations, it's easy to see why Logan Circle is quickly becoming a desired residential neighborhood. Revitalization in the area is quickly adding new apartment complexes as well as renovating older row houses and condos. Renters can expect a range of prices depending on the amenities and renovations of units. Newer one-bedroom apartments will usually start around $1400/month. Studios and one-bedroom basement apartments in row houses, however, can still be found for as little as $900/month.

Below are several featured buildings in this neighborhood for consideration. Be sure to check with each apartments' property management company for more information, availability, and current prices. And don’t be afraid to contact them! Most renters need to give 30-60 days moving notice. If you know you’re moving in the next few months, have them keep track of apartments coming available for you.
