Overview

The neighborhood of Adams Morgan and adjacent neighborhood of Kalorama are culturally diverse with large residential populations. Adams Morgan is known for the large international immigrant population and the culturally diverse businesses, languages, and religions they have brought with them. This bohemian-type atmosphere has lent itself to a popular nightlife spot with clubs, restaurants and bars lining 18th St. NW, the main thoroughfare through the neighborhood.

Kalorama, consisting of the smaller enclaves of Sheridan Kalorama and Kalorama Triangle, is just across Calvert St. from Adams Morgan. This affluent residential area sits on a sloping hill and commands stunning views of Downtown DC. Notable residents include Senator Ted Kennedy, former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, and Robert McNamara.

The area is bounded by Irving St. to the North, Florida Ave. and U St. to the South, 16th St. to the East, and Rock Creek Park to the West.

Adams Morgan and Kalorama are residential areas with many housing options. The more diverse Adams Morgan provides cheaper accommodations among its apartments lining Colombia Rd. Renters can expect to pay around $1100 for a one bedroom apartment.

Kalorama is a bit more expensive with its more affluent neighborhood sitting higher on the hill with views of Downtown DC and Rock Creek Park. Renters can expect $1200-$1500 for one bedroom apartments.
